While cleaning up the storage is unarguably the most boring thing you can do in Final Fantasy XIV, it pays off going into Endwalker unencumbered. They never know when they might need them, never being the keyword here, and they just can’t be bothered with inventory management. What’s this throwing stuff away thing you speak off? Hoarder and proud of it! MMO players like to keep all items for two reasons. We recommend going with the old-fashioned questing to get a better understanding of the universe because the Final Fantasy XIV lore is awesome. It’s up to you if you invest time or money. The FFXIV store offers three premium items that will automatically complete the A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood main scenario quests. This means that you need to be up to date with the Shadowbringers story to unlock the content that arrives with Endwalker. You cannot advance into an expansion if you haven’t completed the story-driven quests from the previous expansion. This sheer volume gives it an advantage over other titles with far less to offer, but filler doesn't always prevail.Progress in Final Fantasy XIV is locked behind main scenario quests. The second, accompanying the games Heavensward expansion, did not repeat this practice, opting instead for a wholly original score.Įven discarding the sixteen repeats in Before The Fall, the four soundtrack releases offer a combined 329 tracks to choose from, with more sure to follow given that the game's lifespan is far from over (the next expansion is due in June). Two additional soundtrack album releases have since followed, with the first, Before The Fall, reutilising 16 of Before Meteor's tracks in a new capacity. This soundtrack, released as the A Realm Reborn collection, clocked in at a whopping 119 tracks, with highlights ranging from 'Torn From The Heavens' to 'Primal Judgement'. This removal was somewhat controversial given the excellence of tracks like 'Bathed In Woodsin', 'Twilight Over Thanalan', 'Fragments Of Forever' and 'Fallen Angel', but the predominantly Soken-composed follow-up was a more than worthy successor.
Amongst the things that were removed was the original soundtrack, predominantly an Uematsu creation, which was later released as the 104-track Before Meteor collection. Final Fantasy XIV was Square Enix's second attempt at an MMO after Final Fantasy XI and its original launch was a massive failure, prompting them to effectively scrap the game and subsequently re-release it to a much better reception.
